New Wine 2016

Where?

The Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

When?

Week 1: Sat, 23 July 2016 to Fri, 29 Jul 2016

Week 2: Sat, 31 July 2016 to Fri, 6 Aug 2016

What is it all about?

In an age of consumerism that has given rise to immediacy, sound bites and twitter feeds, now is the time for the church to go Deeper...

...Each year our Summer Conferences provide the opportunity to take our hearts deeper into the love of God through worship; our minds deeper into the truth of God through teaching; and our wills deeper into the mission of God through prayer and challenge.”

So what happens?

Some great worship, around 130 thought provoking seminars to choose from, prayer ministry, Christ-inspired activities, BBQs and communal meals with church members plus a lot more.

What about accommodation?

Bring your tent, caravan or motor home. If you don’t own one you can hire one*. Church members camp in villages, so everyone from St. Andrew’s is together providing a great opportunity to build community. The site provides hot showers, flush toilets, disabled facilities, water taps and disposal points to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

*If you would like a list of companies who hire tents, caravans and motorhomes for New Wine please email Chris Porter at cjporter@blueyonder.co.uk or support@standrewchurchdown.org.uk Note that these companies get booked up quickly.

Don’t like camping?

There are also plenty of B&Bs and self-catering cottages nearby, so you can book your place as usual, specify that you’re staying off site, then come and go as you please.

What about food?

We enjoy good camping food, communal meals and BBQs but there is also a food court with a wide range of take-away meals if you don’t feel like cooking. In addition there are coffee shops in the marketplace.

Any shops?

Two shops on site supply a good range of food including fresh meat, vegetables, milk and bread. The marketplace has an interesting range of Christian books, CDs, arts & crafts and clothing plus informative displays from a number of Christian charities.

What about families with children and teenagers?

New Wine offers much for families with children. Parents can relax knowing there are various daily groups for ages 0 – 11 offering stimulating Christ-inspired activities in a safe environment, whilst teenagers have their own daily programme, sports and even a parent-free cafe! There is also a crèche in Venue 1, one of the two main venues for the evening talks and worship. The campsite is a very safe and secure place for children.

Volunteering

Many of St. Andrew’s teenagers choose to volunteer for one of the teams working with the childrens’ groups. Adults can also volunteer for a number of teams from hospitality, prayer ministry and site crews through to the medical team. All accepted volunteers get a free place (except those on prayer ministry) but it’s best to book early.

How much does it cost?

Cost per adult £140 before 30/11; £147 before 28/2; £154 before 31/5 and thereafter £165.

Payments include entry to all venues (subject to capacity), use of facilities and a camping pitch. There is no discount for staying off site.
